Denver Broncos breakout players through the first half of 2020.

The Denver Broncos have a very young roster with only four active players age 30 or older, and a significant majority of the team 26 and younger.

Because of that, the team had plenty of potential breakout player candidates coming into the 2020 season.

The Broncos were hoping this young roster would step up in a big way in 2020 to get the team back into postseason play.

Offensively, the Broncos have one of the youngest units in the NFL. Led by 23-year-old Drew Lock, the Broncos have young players both on the offensive line and at the skill positions. Veteran running back Melvin Gordon, who is 27, was the elder on the offense until Demar Dotson was inserted into the lineup as the third option at right tackle.

Defensively the Broncos have more of a veteran presence. Kareem Jackson is 32 and one of the oldest players on the team, and both Bryce Callahan and AJ Bouye are 29. When Von Miller is in there, he’ll be right behind Jackson as oldest players in the starting lineup.

With such a young roster, there were bound to be some breakout players in 2020. Because rookies are in their first NFL season, I don’t consider them for this distinction.

Breakout players are guys whose production in 2020 has exceeded one or more prior years of NFL experience.

Who are the top breakout players on the Broncos’ roster so far this season?

Let’s take a look.
