Will the Denver Broncos make any moves before this year’s trade deadline?

That remains to be seen, but the deadline to make any trades for all teams is at 4:00 pm ET on Tuesday. One player that the Broncos could potentially look to move is third-year wide receiver DaeSean Hamilton.

Hamilton’s name is one that has been mentioned numerous times in connection with a trade this year, but until Sunday, he was viewed as just a player the Broncos may want to unload in order for both sides to move on. But against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 8, Hamilton had what was arguably the best game of his career to this point.

He had a career-high 82 yards receiving on four receptions and a 40-yard touchdown catch. It was a welcome sight for a player who has done little since the team used a fourth-round pick on him in 2018.

Hamilton saw extra snaps on offense with Tim Patrick missing the game and he made the most of them. On the season, he still has just nine catches for 140 yards.

That raises two questions. Would another team have any interest in Hamilton due to this performance? Would the Broncos even want to trade him at this point?

Any team with a developing quarterback likely wants as many options for him to grow with in the passing game. Hamilton also seems to have a strong rapport with Drew Lock. If another team were willing to bring Hamilton over, it’s likely they wouldn’t be willing to part with more than a sixth or seventh-round draft pick.

With that being the potential rate of return, the Broncos may be best suited to just hang onto Hamilton, who still has one more year remaining on his rookie deal.

The Broncos have a solid wide receiver corps with Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy and K.J. Hamler. That trio is what many felt made Hamilton expendable to begin with. But with Sutton out for the year and Hamler being banged up as well, the Broncos may see it as a better move for the team to just hang onto Hamilton.

But if they are intent on trading him, the effort he put forth on Sunday came at the perfect time.
