The Denver Broncos have added another former Mizzou teammate of Drew Lock’s.

The Denver Broncos have already brought in one of Drew Lock’s best pals from his days as a member of the Missouri Tigers, drafting former Mizzou tight end Albert Okwuegbunam in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Now, they’ve reportedly brought in another.

Crockett is a thick running back at 5-foot-10, 225 pounds with really good 4.50 speed (2019 Missouri pro day) and strength, throwing up 21 bench press reps at 225 pounds. He also showed exceptional explosiveness with a 37-inch vertical jump.

The traits are all there for Crockett. Since he left early from Missouri back in 2019, the fit in the NFL, unfortunately, has not been.

He’s already had stints with the Texans, Raiders, and Packers, but hopefully, the Denver Broncos can be a nice landing spot for him.

His old pals Lock and Albert O. are in Denver, after all.

Even without the connection to Lock and Albert Okwuegbunam, the addition of Crockett to the practice squad is a fun one. He’s got some really nice athletic traits and typically running backs are some of the more likely guys to emerge from the back end of your roster.

Good or at least solid running backs can float around for a while because of the supply and demand in today’s NFL. Hopefully, Crockett has something to offer the Broncos at some point in time.

Why did the team sign him now?

With LeVante Bellamy nursing a knee injury and Melvin Gordon potentially facing a suspension at some point, the addition of Crockett gives the Broncos some insurance and someone to call up for a couple of weeks if they need him in Gordon’s absence later on this season.

While he was at Missouri, Crockett ran for 2,252 yards in three seasons (28 games) with 19 rushing touchdowns and two receiving touchdowns.

Next. 3 trades for the Broncos to consider. dark

Watching through some of his top plays with Missouri, it’s clear that at his best, he’s a powerful back with some surprising cutting abilities, solid game/play speed, and tremendous strength in short-yardage situations.
