3 trades the Broncos could consider before the 2020 deadline
2. WR DaeSean Hamilton to the Packers for CB Josh Jackson
It’s becoming clear at this point that a change of scenery may be needed for DaeSean Hamilton if a dramatic turnaround in his play is not in very short order.
Hamilton has three receptions this season on 11 targets and he’s played 188 (57 percent) snaps.
If KJ Hamler is healthy enough, trading Hamilton makes a ton of sense even with Courtland Sutton out of the picture for 2020.
One possible target is Green Bay Packers cornerback Josh Jackson, a former Iowa Hawkeyes defensive back who has struggled as a second-round pick to establish himself in Green Bay. Just like Michael Ojemudia was a great scheme fit for Denver, perhaps Jackson could be as well.
This would give the Packers and Aaron Rodgers a player in Hamilton to try out in the slot and see if he can be an upgrade to their average group of wide receivers, and it would give Jackson at least this year and maybe next to show he can play well in a defense that may be better suited to his skill set.
Another option for Hamilton that was floated to me on Twitter was a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles (Hamilton played college ball at Penn State) for LB/EDGE Genard Avery. The Eagles surrendered a fourth-round pick for Avery, but his playing time has been very limited.
Still, he’s averaged a QB hit every 11 snaps for Philly this season (6 hits on 68 snaps) and the Broncos could use the depth off the edge.
