The Denver Broncos have not had good luck going to the home of the New England Patriots for quite some time.

One of the most famous moments from the rivalry between these two teams came right here (video) when former Broncos tight end Shannon Sharpe called the “president” during a win over the Pats.

The Broncos won that particular game 34-8 and they did so in New England. But since then, the series has tilted more toward the favor of the Patriots, particularly in games played in Foxborough.

The Broncos still hold a 30-23 all-time edge in the series, but they have hit a rough patch in games played against the Patriots at Gillette Stadium. Denver has lost its last five games at Gillette and in all but one of those games, they lost by 10 points or more.

So when was the last time the Broncos beat the Patriots on the road? September 24, 2006.

The Broncos held the Patriots to just seven points in that game, keeping Tom Brady and company off the scoreboard until the fourth quarter.

Javon Walker caught two touchdown passes in that game, including one that traveled 83 yards. Tatum Bell rushed for 123 yards to help the Broncos’ balanced offensive attack.

In a game that has been moved to Monday night, the Broncos will try to get their first road win against this team in over 14 years.

In the last five trips to Foxborough, the Patriots have conquered Jay Cutler, totally obliterated Tim Tebow and even knocked off Peyton Manning in three straight seasons.

The last Broncos quarterback to get a win in New England was Jake Plummer. Will it be Drew Lock or Brett Rypien who gets the chance to change that on Monday?

It will also be the first time since October 1999 that the Broncos have played against a Patriots quarterback in New England other than Tom Brady. Drew Bledsoe was the quarterback for the Pats in that game.

Several streaks will come to an end in this game but the Broncos will be hoping to end the losing streak in New England above all else.
