Broncos after first four games

Ty: After going 1-3 in the first quarter of the season, do you believe the next four games could play a huge part in this becoming a make or break season?

Romi: Absolutely. I mean, the truth why football is so exciting is that every game counts the same. It doesn’t matter when you get those wins. But every win, every loss counts the same. Beating the Chiefs is going to be a  very tall task. Beating the Patriots is going to be tough because of Bill Belichick. He is proving to everyone he is a brilliant mind with or without Tom Brady.

I think against the Dolphins, against the Falcons, the Broncos have plenty of a good chance. They can compete. They will get some healthy bodies back. Just start racking up those wins would be huge because of all those injuries. Because of how the season has gone. It is nothing the Broncos were expecting. Now that they have that first win under their belt, to start tacking on a few [wins] would be huge.

Now, if you go 0-4 during that stretch, it is devastating. It makes it really hard for guys to get up, to get motivated. Especially without 76,000 fans cheering you on. Getting a few wins, no matter how many there are is huge to keeping this team motivated. Especially with most of the stars, they will not get back for the whole year. Every win you can tack on is huge.

I know they say there are no moral victories. But keeping these games close, the way they play when they go and look at how they play, they can see inside the building that they did a really good job. They were competing. If you can grab a win over Miami, a win over Atlanta, those are key to keeping the momentum.

The playoff brackets are bigger this year. There is that seventh team that can make it. So there is no reason saying if the Broncos couldn’t rattle off a couple wins and grab that seventh spot. Then it is anything goes once playoffs start. With Drew Lock coming back will change things too. That will galvanize the team. Especially if he comes back during the Miami game, it could turn the tide.
