The Denver Broncos will have to wait one more day to face off against the Patriots.

It would not be the year 2020 if there was not a change in the world. The Denver Broncos have dealt with injuries this season. Now they will deal with their week five matchup against the Patriots being rescheduled.

First reported by Mike Klis of 9News, the Denver Broncos upcoming matchup with the New England Patriots will be rescheduled for Monday evening. Do not forget that this game was originally supposed to be played on Sunday, October 11th at 1 PM EST/11 AM MST. Since then, this game has switched times twice.

A couple of weeks ago, the game was moved to the late afternoon time slot. Now the game is being moved from Sunday afternoon to Monday evening. The time is set for 5:00 PM EST/3:00 PM MST. The game will also move from CBS to ESPN.

The time change is in response to the New England Patriots having players tested positive for COVID-19. Last weekend, Cam Newton tested positive and was forced to miss the game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Shortly after that game, Stephon Gilmore would test positive.

The Patriots have yet to hold practice this week as they have done practice virtually. They are set to return to the facilities on Friday. While this does give the Broncos an extra day of rest, it also gives them a short week before facing the Miami Dolphins.

Moving the game could have a huge impact on who will suit up for both sides.

Something to keep an eye on regarding this change is who will be starting at quarterback for both teams. Drew Lock has been practicing on a limited basis this week. If the coaching staff feels comfortable with his progression, he could play on Monday.

But that also gives Cam Newton a chance to pass his two coronavirus tests to be cleared to play. We could go from a Rypien vs. Hoyer/Stidham game to Lock vs. Newton by moving the game by one day.
