As the Denver Broncos prepare for the Patriots, I go behind enemy lines to see the state of New England.

After a mini bye week for the Denver Broncos, the team appears to be rested as they are preparing to face off against the New England Patriots. As it stands at the time of this writing, the game will go on as scheduled. Regarding the state of the Patriots, they are dealing with a lot over the last few days.

Cam Newton and Stephon Gilmore are currently on the COVID-19 reserve list because they have contracted the virus. Patriots practice was canceled on Wednesday. There is a little bit of a chance that Newton could play on Sunday. But it comes down to the testing.

It is assumed that Gilmore is likely not going to suit up on Sunday if the game goes on as scheduled. There could be a chance that Newton does not play as well. But it all comes down to how these next couple of days go.

As it stands right now, the Patriots are 2-2. They have traded wins and losses this season. This will be a must-win for both them and the Broncos. Both are trying to catch up to undefeated teams in the Bills and Chiefs.

I foresee this being a great game. Predominantly Orange will keep Broncos Country updated if anything does change regarding the time and date of the game.

As of now, it appears the game is still going on. Therefore, we keep rolling. In this week’s behind enemy lines, I got to sit down with Amanda Mecutchen. She is a college friend of mine and we worked together at our school’s intramural department. We had a few friendly banters when it came to the Broncos and Patriots facing each other during the later stages of our college years.

Let us look and see what she has to say about the state of the Patriots.

Ty: After four games, the Patriots sit at .500. What has impressed you so far this season and what has been a disappointment?

Amanda: I’m happy with the results of this season so far. The team has come together with lots of new faces and played well together with a nonexistent camp or preseason this year. I wish we could have had Cam playing up against the Chiefs to see two teams at full power battling it out, but I’m glad to see the team is taking proper precautions.

Ty: After nearly 20 years, Tom Brady is no longer the quarterback for New England. Did it surprise you when he didn’t return?

Amanda: It did surprise me a bit, with only a few years left in the league, I was surprised he wanted to go elsewhere when he has been so successful in New England, but I’m sure there were plenty of reasons behind his decision that we’re unaware of.

Ty: Shortly after the draft, the Patriots signed Cam Newton. After three games, what are your thoughts on him?

Amanda: Personally Cam has exceeded my expectations, not only on the field but off. I was concerned in the offseason solely because of the “big” personality Cam previously displayed. He’s come into New England working hard and proven himself thus far.

Ty: The Patriots face the Broncos on Sunday. What will it take to get a win?

Amanda: I think the team had some adjustments to work on this week with their two backup QBs stepping into with games with Cam’s positive test results. Hopefully, the team was able to get in their workouts so they can come together this week and be more successful.

Ty: Which player from New England that perhaps not a lot of fans know about will make an impact on Sunday?

Amanda: I’m honestly not sure on that one. The Patriots are a well-rounded team and as much as I love to cheer for them every weekend, they really throw me for a curveball when it comes to fantasy haha.

I think Edelman will come back with a vengeance to make up for some mistakes last week, but some of the other plays have had shinning weeks so far and could come out again like White, Harry, Byrd, and Burkhead. Guess we’ll have to wait and see what Sunday brings!

Thank You Amanda for taking the time out to chat with me. Here is hoping our players are safe and that we have a great game!
