As crazy as it is, it’s true that Jerry Rice was once a member of the Denver Broncos.

Rice had a Hall of Fame career with the San Francisco 49ers, Oakland Raiders, and he even caught three touchdowns with the Seattle Seahawks.

For the longest time, Rice and the teams he played for were the bane of the Denver Broncos’ existence.

Rice is a Hall of Fame wide receiver and some consider him to be the greatest player in NFL history regardless of position. He had a whopping 207 career touchdowns in the NFL, but we never got to see him hit paydirt in Denver.

Rice was signed on in the 2005 offseason and I will never forget as a kid being a training camp and seeing both Rice on the field as well as a ton of his no. 19 jerseys in the team store. At that time, fans really had unprecedented access, a rope on the ground about 15 feet from the sideline separating them and the players.

Rice ran through his route toward the sideline, directly at me, and he ended up stopping his momentum a foot or two away from where I was standing. As a young NFL fan, that was one of the coolest moments and something I’ll never forget.
