Denver Broncos: Brett Rypien and 4 others who can step up big
5. Derrek Tuszka, EDGE
The New York Jets will not be starting the game against the Denver Broncos with star rookie Mekhi Becton, who has been the team’s best player through three weeks.
Becton is dealing with an injury, the Jets’ offensive line is already inconsistent, and right tackle George Fant is also just coming out of concussion protocol and has been limited this week.
Even though the Jets’ roster was already lacking talent, they have suffered injuries on the offensive line, something Sam Darnold simply can’t afford.
With that being the case, why not unleash a bloodthirsty young pass rusher on an offensive line that might be shaky at best?
Derrek Tuszka, the Broncos’ seventh-round pick out of North Dakota State, was placed on the practice squad initially and has now been promoted once and for all to the active roster.
With Von Miller out and Jeremiah Attaochu not playing in this game due to a quad injury, it could be Tuszka’s golden opportunity to earn himself a spot in the rotation considering none of Malik Reed or Anthony Chickillo have really proven they can create pressure off the edge.
Tuszka is a talented athlete who needs to get bigger and stronger, but he can win with speed and he might be able to make a bigger impact on this game than anyone realizes.
