Drew Lock injury: Jameis Winston and other QBs to consider acquiring
3. Free agent options
Blake Bortles
Blake Bortles was most recently a member of the Los Angeles Rams, but he didn’t receive any backup offers he liked heading into the 2020 NFL season.
The former third-overall pick was part of a very good 2017 Jaguars team that went all the way to the AFC Championship game, but he couldn’t live up to the lofty second contract he received.
Colin Kaepernick
I’ve made this argument about 100 times it feels like, and certainly once a year. The Broncos were interested enough in Kaepernick to send pro scout Jordon Dizon to his workout last year before it switched locations, and they have a number of coaches on the staff who have a lot of history with Kaepernick, not the least of which is head coach Vic Fangio.
If Lock is out for an extended period of time, why not?
Kyle Sloter
Sloter is another familiar name who spent time with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted rookie, and looked good in preseason action before just missing the team at final cuts. He ended up bouncing around with the Vikings, Cardinals, and Lions, and now is available again.
Would the Broncos consider a reunion here?
