With Drew Lock out, what QBs might the Denver Broncos consider acquiring?
The Denver Broncos’ loss on Sunday was absolutely brutal, and not because the team dropped to 0-2 on the season. The Broncos lost quarterback Drew Lock to a shoulder injury, the severity of which could be either just a couple of weeks or potentially long-term.
The ambiguity of Lock’s injury timeline aside, the Denver Broncos probably will have to consider acquiring help at the quarterback position, and they will need to act quickly.
The current options to replace Drew Lock in-house are Jeff Driskel and Brett Rypien.
Rypien and Lock are good pals as they came into the league together in 2019, and the current Broncos front office and coaching staff view the relationship between Lock and Rypien as essential.
Whether or not Rypien is ready to be called upon in regular season action is highly debatable.
With Jeff Driskel undoubtedly starting at least the first game in Lock’s place, what are options outside of Denver the team could look at?
There’s no guarantee they would do anything at all to bring in a veteran or high-upside option, but I would strongly consider it if I were in John Elway’s seat.
What are the top options out there that could realistically be available?
