Where do several popular NFL outlets put the Denver Broncos in their Week 2 power rankings?

Coming into the season, there was a lot of hope for this Denver Broncos team. They added new instant-impact players via free agency/trade (A.J. Bouye, Jurrell Casey, Graham Glasgow), as well as through the NFL draft and undrafted free agency (Jerry Jeudy, Michael Ojemudia, Derrek Tuszka, LeVante Bellamy).

Unfortunately, the Broncos fell short of holding off the Tennessee Titans in Week 1, losing on a last-second field goal. There were some killer things that the Broncos did to lose this game. It was a game they should have won.

It’s not the first time that the Broncos lost in a close matchup. In fact, it has become a very well-known trend as of late.

There were many that expect the Broncos to be a top team in 2020 due to their young offense and additions on both sides of the ball. The question is, when will they fully come together?

There are several media outlets that have done weekly power rankings for the 2020 season. Where do they rank the Broncos? Let’s take a look.

CBS Sports: Week 2: 21st (Week 1: 15th): CBS simply stated that the Broncos were in their Week 1 game against the Titans for the most part. They lost by a score of 16-14 after allowing the Titans to drive down the field on the last drive to kick a game-winning field goal. This came after their kicker, Stephen Gostkowski, missed four previous field goals in the same game.

ProFootballTalk: Week 2: 16th (Week 1: 15th): In PFT’s Week 2 power rankings, they took a jab at head coach Vic Fangio’s timeout mistake that happened against Tennessee. Many people did the same and it is now up to the Broncos to not make that mistake again.

Bleacher Report: Week 2: 18th (Week 1: 20th): Bleacher Report said what many should realize. The Broncos were in this game the entire time. It was simple mistakes that doomed them. It was the absence of key contributors in Von Miller, Courtland Sutton, and A.J. Bouye. It was an issue regarding timeouts. As the Broncos get healthier, the end results should be a lot better.

ProFootballNetwork: Week 2: 21st (Week 1:19th): PFN highlights rookie Jerry Jeudy’s route-running skills and also how Drew Lock had his favorite target in tight end Noah Fant. Unfortunately, the Broncos went away from what was working in the first half, shutting Fant out of the gameplan in the second half. They can’t do the same thing against Pittsburgh. Do what works!!!

Final Thoughts

Some outlets are not as high on the Broncos in Week 2 as others, and there are some concerns. There needs to be patience with this team but one thing is for sure: Simple, dumb mistakes need to be avoided.

The Broncos came so close to beating the Titans in Week 1. If they clean up these mistakes, their future is 100 percent bright.

Once they become a mostly-healthy team, the sky’s the limit for the Broncos. We came into the 2020 season with high expectations. We just need to realize that it won’t be sunshine and rainbows week in and week out.

The Broncos are used to people doubting them. Hopefully something like this will give them a fire.
