6. Rookie receivers look good

The Denver Broncos’ top two picks were on the field together for the first time in the 2020 season on Sunday, and they both looked good.

Jerry Jeudy is just so smooth out there, and he was once again putting defensive players in the spin cycle with his ability to stop on a dime and accelerate immediately at full speed.

Jeudy caught four passes for 62 yards in this one, and with Courtland Sutton’s knee now apparently a question mark, he’s going to be asked to do even more for the Denver Broncos’ offense than he already is.

The good news for Jeudy is, he will now have some help out there in the form of KJ Hamler, who was excellent in his 2020 debut for the Broncos.

Aside from his decision to take a kickoff from five yards deep in the end zone, Hamler looked very good at the wide receiver position, showing off his tremendous route quickness and surprisingly strong hands and wide catch radius.

Hamler made a tough catch going behind him for a key first down in this game, and worked the sideline on another couple of deep out routes.

He finished the game with three receptions for 48 yards on seven targets.

Overall, the duo of Jeudy and Hamler was targeted a total of 14 times — seven times each — in this game for the Broncos.

The Broncos need to continue to find ways to get these guys easy looks so they can make plays after the catch, but they are well ahead of typical rookie pace when it comes to playing the position right out of college.
