3. Noah Fant, TE

After his week one performance, it’s safe to say the Denver Broncos will likely attempt to incorporate Noah Fant into the offense even more than they did in week one when they take on the Steelers in week two.

Back in July, I wrote an article about Fant’s red zone usage by the Denver Broncos in 2019 (one reception, one touchdown) as a way the team could better utilize him moving forward to 2020.

Against the Titans, Fant was targeted just one time in the red zone, and not surprisingly, that target was caught for a touchdown, one of Fant’s best plays as a young NFL player so far.

He was inexplicably targeted just one time in the second half of Monday night’s game, and the Broncos’ offense predictably stalled.

So for those keeping score at home:

Noah Fant career red zone statistics

Receptions: 2
Touchdowns: 2

While he was with the Iowa Hawkeyes, 13 of his 19 touchdowns came in red zone work. At this point, there’s got to be some kind of science behind Fant’s red zone production.

In addition to Fant’s masterful red zone touchdown catch, he was once again a beast after the catch, something football analytics people questioned about him coming into the NFL.

It was hysterical then, and it’s hysterical now.

Fant was second in the entire NFL last year in YAC per reception, and he has picked up right where he left off. He was third in the NFL after one game with 11.7 YAC per reception, and tops among tight ends by over three yards.

As far as offensive stars go, Fant shined the brightest for the Denver Broncos on Monday night and should only continue to get better and better.
