The Denver Broncos could call up running back LeVante Bellamy from the practice squad this week.

One of the most talked-about undrafted free agents this offseason from the Denver Broncos could see some game action this week against the Steelers.

Running back LeVante Bellamy is a candidate to be called up from the practice squad according to Mike Klis.

The Broncos need help at the position with Phillip Lindsay set to miss some time with a turf toe injury. The other running backs on the roster are Melvin Gordon and Royce Freeman.

Gordon had an untimely fumble in Monday night’s loss to the Titans but carried the load the rest of the way. Gordon had 15 carries while Drew Lock had three and Freeman had one. Gordon had an impressive 78 yards on the ground as well as a touchdown.

At the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine, Bellamy ran the 40-yard dash at 4.51-seconds. Let me tell you: in games, he looks a heckuva lot faster than that. There is even a source that says that Bellamy ran the 40-yard dash in a blazing 4.28–seconds.

To some in Broncos Country, Bellamy was a sure-fire lock to make the team’s initial 53-man roster. Instead, he got beat out by third-year player Royce Freeman. Taking advantage of the new practice squad rules, the Broncos chose to protect Bellamy from getting stolen by another team this week. That could be an indicator that he will make an appearance on the active roster this upcoming week against the Steelers.

It will be interesting to see if they do that. Will Bellamy see some time in the backfield? Or will the team choose to have him play special teams for the most part? Either way, Bellamy will definitely be a fun prospect to watch as he tries to continues to make a name for himself, in his first career NFL game.
