3. Garett Bolles?

Did anyone hear a, “Holding, number 72 on offense,” in this game?

No, you didn’t.

An NFL offensive lineman’s performance shouldn’t be graded on whether or not they got called for holding, but it is certainly a big deal for Garett Bolles, who had one of his better performances as a member of the Denver Broncos on Monday night.

Bolles pitched a near shutout at the left tackle position against the Titans, showing vastly improved hand placement and core strength. Bolles’ strength and overall bulk were two areas he really had to improve upon after his first three seasons where he was getting knocked back pretty easily and consistently against bull rushes, while also using poor hand technique on speed rushes to the outside.

Bolles has always had the feet and athleticism to stick with any kind of pass rusher, but he’s been slow to take to teaching on technique.

It appears as though Bolles’ added weight was a very important factor for him as he took on some stunts and bull rushes from Jadeveon Clowney in this game admirably.
