Denver Broncos: Phillip Lindsay out with foot injury
Denver Broncos RB Phillip Lindsay was ruled out with a foot injury.
As the news of A.J. Bouye’s injury is settling into the minds of Denver Broncos fans, here’s another one that Broncos Country has to hear.
Running back Phillip Lindsay has been ruled out with a foot injury.
He finishes the day with seven carries for 24 yards and one catch for 11 yards.
Lindsay is splitting carries with newly-acquired Melvin Gordon. The hope was that the two could be a dominant duo while giving each other a break when needed. The snap count has been fairly even but with Lindsay now out for the game, Gordon will come out of the game with quite a few more snaps.
Now, the Broncos are facing the Titans without some key players in Lindsay, Bouye, Von Miller and Courtland Sutton.
There’s currently no exact word on Lindsay’s injury but a foot injury is not good news for any player, let alone a running back. There should be a heavy dose of Gordon for the remainder of the game. He is a good pass catcher, which is something that the Broncos will likely take advantage of as they are down 13-7.
It’s still week one and obviously injuries can happen at any time. You have to wonder if part of the issue with all of these injuries—not only the Broncos but all across the league—are due to the lack of preseason games. Nobody really got ready in the way that they are used to.
If Lindsay is out for a significant amount of time, the Broncos are going to have to get Royce Freeman involved. They could also call up undrafted rookie LeVante Bellamy who shined in training camp.
The Broncos’ young offense is showing some great things so far and that’s great news this early on in the season.
