3. De’Vante Bausby from CB3 to…cut?

It’s tough to predict which roster moves you can’t see coming because, well, if you could see them coming would they be all that shocking?

It didn’t surprise anything one to see Isaac Yiadom get traded, and it wouldn’t have surprised anyone if Duke Dawson hadn’t made the roster based on Essang Bassey’s apparent rise to prominence in recent days.

But De’Vante Bausby getting cut?

That’s a big surprise.

Bausby was brought back on a modest one-year deal after his spine injury in 2019, and the Broncos had made it seem he was firmly in the mix for CB3 duties.

He was forced to miss some time (a week) in practice and ultimately, that is often the edge for guys in tight roster battles. The Broncos liked what they saw from Davontae Harris, Bassey, and even Dawson, and felt they had all done enough to push him off the active roster completely.

The practice squad is not out of the equation for Bausby, but this is a tough one to swallow because of the upside Bausby had shown early in camp and last season when he was on the field for regular season action.
