1. Jake Butt makes the 53-man roster

The biggest development from the initial 53-man roster is the inclusion of 2017 fifth-round pick Jake Butt.

As a matter of fact, this was a good day for 2017 draft picks in general as DeMarcus Walker also found himself on the roster after the Christian Covington for Austin Calitro trade.

Butt was considered a longshot in 2020 for a variety of reasons, not the least of which was his extensive knee injury history.

If Butt had missed any time due to injury during camp, it’s likely the Broncos would have moved on.

But he showed up to training camp early, without a brace, and working as close to full speed as he possibly can at this point. And he looked good.

Even in just the highlights and segments of practice available for fans to watch, Butt looked like he was completely rejuvenated out there.

Butt isn’t completely in the clear until Sunday’s waiver claims come in, but it would just be cruel for the Broncos to put him on the 53-man roster today only to cut him the next day.

This is a great story, and hopefully, Butt is able to get out there against the Titans and score his first NFL touchdown.
