Trade 3: CB Isaac Yiadom & Day 3 pick for CB Tre Herndon

The Denver Broncos’ cornerback position is largely unsettled at this point beyond the top two guys.

The team’s expectations have already been met and even exceeded by former Jaguars cornerback AJ Bouye, who is looking like a steal of a fourth-round pick early on, but behind him and Bryce Callahan, there are question marks all over.

One of those question marks is Isaac Yiadom, a player who may need a change of scenery.

The Jaguars have gone young pretty much everywhere on their roster, and while Tre Herndon is in a contract year as a restricted free agent in 2021, Yiadom has two more years of his rookie contract remaining and could still develop into a starter.

Herndon is one of the best kept secrets in the NFL at the cornerback position. He had three interceptions and 13 pass breakups last year for the Jaguars, and allowed just 46.3 percent of passes thrown into his coverage to be completed.

Why would the Jaguars trade this guy? Why would they trade anybody?

Sending Yiadom plus a pick allows the Jaguars to continue their tank while also saving face by saying they felt they could help reboot Yiadom’s career.

Herndon would re-join Bouye in the Broncos’ secondary and give Denver another starting-caliber option for the next two seasons, at least.
