1. Drew Lock, QB

The most obvious Denver Broncos breakout player candidate in 2020 is quarterback Drew Lock.

Lock started five games for the Broncos as a rookie, and entering his second year, he’s got a brand-new offensive coordinator in Pat Shurmur.

Shurmur’s offense has done wonders for quarterbacks through the years, and you don’t need to look any further than Case Keenum’s 2017 season with the Minnesota Vikings as evidence that whatever Shurmur concocts can work, because his work with Keenum earned the quarterback a big contract with the Denver Broncos in the 2018 offseason.

Lock is confident entering his second NFL season and when you hear players and coaches talking about his ‘command’ of the Shurmur offense despite not having a full offseason to install it on the field?

That’s promising, to say the least.

With the weapons he has around him this season, it seems borderline foolish to think Lock will do anything but breakout.

The talent is there, there’s talent around him, and Shurmur’s offense which spreads the ball out a lot more in 11 personnel should be much more ideal for Lock.
