Broncos news: Graham Glasgow’s ankle injury not expected to be long-term.

Injury news is not the Denver Broncos news anyone wants to hear about, but it’s the brutal reality of football and the worst part of training camp, to be sure.

Starting right guard Graham Glasgow, the team’s biggest free agent pickup in 2020, suffered an ankle injury during the scrimmage at Empower Field at Mile High on Saturday and wasn’t at practice on Monday.

After the debacle that was the 2019 free agent class in terms of injuries, Broncos fans are understandably concerned when a player like Glasgow is unable to go in practice, but head coach Vic Fangio noted after practice on Monday that Glasgow will be out just a few days.

Fangio also added that with Glasgow being out the next few days, the Broncos were going to see where he’s at after that general timetable.

The focus right now is going to be getting Glasgow ready for week one. Even though he’s missing reps on the field, there’s no doubt that when he’s healthy he’s one of the Broncos’ best and most proven linemen, and they need him.

With roster cuts coming on Saturday, September 5, and a game-week practice to follow, the Broncos might just keep Glasgow off the field until next Monday and give him ample time to recover from this sprained ankle situation.

In Glasgow’s place on the offensive line was Austin Schlottmann, who has been working this offseason at both guard and center for the Broncos.

Schlottmann appears to have lost the starting center battle with rookie Lloyd Cushenberry, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be a valuable player for the Broncos going forward.

Schlottmann started some in 2019 for the Broncos and he looks like one of the team’s preferred reserves in 2020.

Hopefully, the Broncos won’t need him to open the 2020 season in the starting lineup, but the ambiguity with which Vic Fangio talks about injuries makes you wonder.
