Denver Broncos: Jerry Jeudy unfazed by training camp
Despite the long hours players put into practice, Denver Broncos rookie receiver Jerry Jeudy doesn’t think training camp is all that difficult.
We’ve heard it time and time again from Denver Broncos players past or present…
Training camp is a draining part of playing professional sports.
All of the hours that are put into making players and coaches better than they were the day before, all of the blood, sweat, and tears. That type of thing has an effect on everybody involved.
But for Broncos rookie wide receiver Jerry Jeudy, it’s just another day on the job.
"“I don’t really think it’s really challenging for me because the more you practice, the more reps you get and the easier it gets. I feel like us practicing right now is helping me adjust to the game. I know having OTAs and preseason games are a big deal, but I feel like if you’re not prepared when it’s game day, you’re not supposed to be out there. I feel like our coaches have been doing a good job preparing us to be ready for Sundays.”— Broncos rookie wide receiver Jerry Jeudy (quotes from Broncos PR)."
That’s a great attitude for Jeudy to have. He is a lock to make the team, and one of the biggest mistakes you can make as a professional athlete is losing focus.
Jeudy is all-business. I’ll be honest: I don’t typically know a lot about players until they have made a name for themselves in the league. But, reading up on Jeudy, I came across the term “anti-thesis”.
This article from ESPN paints the picture of Jeudy’s childhood, and possibly the reasons for why he is the way that he is.
Remember Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson? Remember Terrell ‘T.O.’ Owens? We aren’t going to get that sort of personality with Jeudy. It appears that Jeudy wants to make a name for himself from his performance on the football field… none of the other things that come from a ‘diva’ wide receiver.
Jeudy was the second wide receiver taken in this year’s draft and has shown thus far that he was worth that 15th overall selection by the Broncos.
It’s also very fascinating to see Jeudy say all the right things, about the coaches and all. This kid gets it.
You would think that with there not being preseason games, a lot of players would be affected. That may be the case, but Jeudy sounds like a guy who will just come in and adapt to whatever is thrown at him—figuratively and literally.
