Blocking out the noise and mentality of determination to prove he still got it looks to be driving Denver Broncos Von Miller.
Despite what people will tell you, Denver Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller still is one of the best defensive players in the NFL.
While Miller’s sack totals were nowhere near what they needed to be, fans need to remember that Miller was constantly double- and triple-teamed. Since Miller is a competitive player and still has the drive to be the greatest at his position, it seems he is on a mission to be the game wrecker we’ve seen in years past.
Based solely on his workout videos in the 2020 offseason, Miller is determined to take it to the next level. If this is a new player Denver and the rest of the NFL will see, then sign me up.
Ever since Miller stepped foot on the field with Denver, he has created the resumé of arguably the best pure pass rusher the league has ever seen. Miller has an incredible dip move that is nearly impossible for tackles to stop. This does not include that Miller has an uncanny ability to jump the snap perfectly nearly every time.
Miller gets called for offsides once in a while, but that’s the price of being a game wrecker. All Miller is doing is making a difference on plays and timing snaps perfectly. No one is immortal as a pass rusher here. It’s pretty cool that the first selection in John Elway’s front office tenure with the Broncos in the draft may turn out to be the franchise’s best player.
Since Miller creates pressure after pressure due to timing the snap just right, it may be worth pointing out that he ranks third amongst edge rushers regarding hurries. Miller has more hurries than Khalil Mack, Nick Bosa, T.J Watt, Chandler Jones, Za’Darius Smith, and many many other quarterback killers.
Miller still causes so many quarterbacks to have happy feet, and they have to know where he is at all times. This is what we call respect from others around the entire NFL. That is not something that is thrown around for the sake to appease the masses.
Of course, Father Time will eventually catch up to everyone, but the drive stars have to prove doubters wrong never goes away. It does not matter if you’re a rookie or a seasoned veteran, the mentality of those who seek greatness remains the same.
Miller’s mentality is one to shut people up. He is getting bigger, faster, and stronger during a pandemic. By now we all should have seen the photos on social media depicting Miller like he was some Hulk or Bane character from superhero comics.
With Father Time creeping in it is easy to get wrapped up and forget what happened in previous years to remember right now. Miller has been a contributor for years with Denver collecting Pro Bowls and a Super Bowl MVP. Appreciate what Miller has done his entire career. Do not select pieces of Miller’s NFL career you hated to fit your agenda.
On the other side of that, if you don’t like what you saw from Von Miller then you are adding to his bulletin board material for the season. Miller is motivated, driven, and healthier — it seems — than he has been in quite a long time.
This is a fantastic recipe for success in 2020. An angry Von Miller is a good thing for the Denver Broncos.
