Head coach Vic Fangio expects CB De’Vante Bausby will have a solid 2020 season for the Denver Broncos.

Before just a couple of days ago, the last time we saw cornerback De’Vante Bausby suit up for the Denver Broncos was during a November matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers in week 5.

Unfortunately, Bausby suffered a neck injury that would end his 2019 season. Prior to that injury, however, Bausby really impressed people, including myself.

But despite the injury, head coach Vic Fangio is expecting some great things from Bausby in 2020.

"Bausby should be in the best spot he’s been in in his career. This is the first time he’s had some continuity, meaning he was here last year, he has experience with us prior to that and he’s coming in to his second year here with the Broncos albeit that he did miss the last 11 or 12 games last year. He should be in the best spot of his career. If he’s going to show that he belongs in the NFL on a consistent basis, this is the year he should do it.— Broncos head coach Vic Fangio (quotes from Broncos PR)"

He had 13 tackles, including four assisted tackles in the limited action.

Bausby is very good at determining what is coming, and, in the game against the Green Bay Packers last season, made a nice touchdown-saving tackle in the run game.

As you should know by now, Fangio wants every one of his defensive players to tackle. That has become clear since Fangio’s arrival.

The team’s depth at cornerback starts with A.J. Bouye and Bryce Callahan. The expectation is that Bausby will be that No. 3 cornerback. We know that it won’t be handed to him, or anybody for that matter. But Bausby certainly has the capabilities to lock down that spot.

Other players fighting for a higher depth chart spot or even a spot on the 2020 roster are rookie Michael Ojemudia, Davontae Harris, Isaac Yiadom, Duke Dawson, and undrafted rookie Essang Bassey.

Every Broncos fan should keep an eye on Bausby going forward. Hopefully, he can come back with a great attitude toward helping the team become a great secondary again. I personally cannot wait to see him shine in 2020.
