In January, the Chicago Bears won the bidding war for Tre Roberson’s services when he was one of the most highly coveted CFL players by the NFL in years.

In late July, Roberson suffered a broken foot working out and the Bears — who were once thought to be considering Roberson as a potential starter opposite of Kyle Fuller — cut him with a non-football injury designation.

It’s impossible to say that the Bears didn’t like Roberson for his on-field performance considering he never got the chance to prove it.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Roberson picked the Bears’ offer over nine other offers, so he had a third of the NFL after him back in January.

Even with a broken foot just a few weeks ago, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to bring Roberson in at some point and see if you can’t get him healthy and back to form.

Roberson is 6-foot-1, 201 pounds, and still just 27 years old. He picked off seven passes last year in the CFL and had 12 passes defended. He was all over the football and with his size and ball production, it’s no wonder so many NFL teams wanted him.
