Prediction: Drew Lock’s unsanctioned work will prove fruitful
Throughout the course of the offseason, there were rumors, reports, and even a couple of videos of Drew Lock out throwing with some of his Broncos teammates.
At one point or another, it sounds like Lock had just about every skill player around for throwing sessions and unofficial offseason workouts to attempt to not only build chemistry but also get familiar with offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur’s offense.
My prediction is that the work Lock put in, which was probably welcomed by the Broncos but certainly not mandated, will pay huge dividends in the early portion of camp as far as the chemistry between Lock and the receivers.
Given the fact that no one knew exactly how to operate during the offseason with strict rules against gatherings of 10 or more people at one point as well as the fact that there were not traditional OTAs, the pressure was put on the players to make sure they had not only the mental reps through virtual team meetings but on-field reps one way or another.
The fact that Lock was able to throw at times with most of his top receivers? Even better.
