Ahkello Witherspoon, CB, San Francisco 49ers

Ahkello Witherspoon played his college football at the University of Colorado and showed a lot of promise. At 6-2 and 198 pounds, Witherspoon is a big physical corner that this team continues to value.

He played well over his career, earning a starting role for the 49ers in 2019. However, the inconsistent play earned Witherspoon a backup role as Emmanuel Moseley took over the job opposite of Richard Sherman in the final two playoff games.

The 49ers may still really believe in Witherspoon as they did not address the corner position much. Kyle Shannahan and John Lynch re-signed cornerback Jason Verrett and free safety Jimmie Ward., and that is about it.

Witherspoon still provides depth, but the team also could look for some cap space. Moving on from Witherspoon would save the 49ers $2.1 million, and the Broncos could easily find that room. The 49ers are not afraid to trade any player they feel brings value in return.

Witherspoon is young and could still bring back worthwhile compensation.

If Fangio and Elway think Witherspoon can thrive in this system, he is a good young option to try and trade for with the intent of reviving his career and a secondary that remains underwhelming.
