Matt Saracen (Friday Night Lights-TV Series)

Played by Zach Gilford

By: Shelby Manning

Matt Saracen is one of the ultimate glow ups in television history.

We meet young Matt Saracen when he is forced to take over under center when top Texas high school prospect Jason Steet goes down with the infamous spinal cord injury, which proves fatal to not only his football career but renders him permanently paralyzed.

The town of Dillon puts little faith on the shoulders of young Matty, but sometimes all you need is a little faith, and he got lots of it from Coach Taylor, and his #1 fan, Lorraine Saracen, his sweet grandma.

Saracen goes from a scared kid to a poised and talented quarterback, picking up a state championship along the way. Although he didn’t play at a collegiate level, favoring art school over football, Matt Saracen would add depth behind Drew Lock, and could potentially even beat out Jeff Driskel for the backup position.
