How Everything Went Wrong

The talented King quickly became a PR nightmare following a bizarre local radio interview and subsequent public confrontation. After he turned in some abysmal games, Denver then brought in Colby Wadman to their practice squad to provide much-needed competition.

Less than a month into the season, however, King was placed on IR and then released. Later on, rumors surfaced that McMahon made Marquette change his punting style and that it caused his decline in performance. The Broncos averaged 44.5 yards per punt in 2018, tied for 6th worst in the NFL. By normal standards, that number is bad. When you play half your games in a city Marquette coined as “a punter’s paradise”, it’s downright horrible.

Isaiah McKenzie, the struggling speedster, had a massive problem with drops as a rookie. He came into the season with some baggage and was quickly demoted to the practice squad, promoted back, and then released in the span of two months.

He was claimed by the Bills shortly thereafter and looked promising in Buffalo. He may be on the outside looking in during 2020, but through no fault of his own as the Bills loaded up on receiving talent this offseason.

That year, Denver split return duties between DaeSean Hamilton, Brendan Langley, Phillip Lindsay, Devontae Booker, Adam Jones, and River Cracraft. All told, the new ST coordinator took a team that finished 30th the year before and elevated them to the ranking of…30th overall at the end of 2018.
