The Denver Broncos have come to terms on a rookie contract with tight end Albert Okwuegbunam.

Drew Lock officially has another weapon to use in 2020, as the Denver Broncos have come to terms with their fourth-round pick, tight end Albert Okwuegbunam.

The deal is worth $4,044,040 over four years.

Okwuegbunam officially will join a tight end group that has second-year player Noah Fant, as well as Jeff  Heuerman, Jake Butt, Austin Fort, Troy Fumagalli, and Nick Vannett. As a mid-round pick, Okwuebunam is surely going to make the roster automatically.

Okwuebunam spent the last three years at Missouri, where he caught 98 passes for 1,187 yards and 23 touchdowns.

Okwuebunam was a teammate of Lock’s and the two connected on a total of 17 touchdowns.

The Broncos add another weapon for Drew Lock, after drafting two wide receivers back to back in the 2020 Draft in Jerry Jeudy and K.J. Hamler.

Depending on where Okwuebunam lands on the Broncos’ depth chart, he could potentially play alongside starter Noah Fant. That duo  sounds very fun to witness. Both can stretch the field and be a red zone threat for the Broncos.

The Broncos have not had great success with tight ends for a while before Noah Fant came along. They really only had one notable player at the position (Julius Thomas) since the retirement of Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe.

The fact that Okwuebunam and Lock are familiar with each other is very good news. Chemistry should be there fairly quickly, despite the fact that there will officially be no preseason games for the players to get on the same page.

Wednesday was the jackpot day for the Broncos signing draft picks. There is still work to be done but things have been picking up very quickly. Hopefully, there will not be any holdouts when training camp officially begins.
