How many players will even be in camp?

It’s starting to look likely that there will be no preseason games played this year and rosters for training camp will be reduced from 90 players down to 80.

That means that there are 10 hopefuls on the current roster who will not even be able to so much as suit up for the Broncos this summer. These 10 players will likely have their professional playing careers come to an end or at the very least, put on hiatus.

This means that the fringe players on the roster and all of the undrafted free agents are already on notice without playing a single snap for the team. It’s these players that the preseason is really designed for.

Without that process, there will be far less drama in camp this summer as there will be 10 fewer decisions to make at the end of camp.

The competition will be less fierce and the excitement over who will make the roster will be less entertaining. These are just some of the adjustments that hardcore football fans will have to make over the next several weeks.

This year’s training camp just won’t be the same, just like pretty much everything else has been in 2020.
