Denver Broncos: Expectations for every rookie in 2020
Derrek Tuszka, EDGE
2020 expectation: Practice squad, eventual call-up
The Broncos love to collect pass rushers, and Derrek Tuszka was a worthwhile and fun shot at the dartboard in the seventh round of the 2020 draft.
An All-American for the North Dakota State Bison, Tuszka has the production, experience, and athleticism to project as a playmaker at the next level.
Some evaluators felt like his skill set at NDSU was reminiscent of Raiders 2019 standout rookie Maxx Crosby, and you can see some of that in his tape.
Tuszka has plenty of talent and he’s certainly going to put forth the effort to make the Broncos, but with as deep as the edge rusher group is, I expect him to initially hit the practice squad with the opportunity to be called up in the middle of the season as the Broncos need or want his services.
There simply won’t be many snaps to go around for all of these guys if everyone is healthy, but Tuszka could be a contributor down the line and I hope he’s the latest, greatest seventh-round steal.
