Denver Broncos: 3 reasons no preseason could be a good thing

3. Use the lack of tape to your advantage
The Denver Broncos’ offense will be under new direction from coordinator Pat Shurmur.
Shurmur is a veteran coordinator and coach in the NFL who knows how to maximize the talent at his disposal.
The Denver Broncos have a lot of talent offensively.
Although the lack of preseason reps means we won’t be able to overanalyze the most vanilla aspects of Shurmur’s offense with a bunch of young players running it, perhaps he can throw them into regular season action with no training wheels on anyway.
It could work to the Broncos’ advantage for the teams they play early on the schedule to not really know what to expect from the offense. Denver has the personnel to be able to win through the air or on the ground and in the early portion of the season, teams having to make in-game adjustments with no film to go off of initially could work tremendously in the Broncos’ advantage, especially as they are going to need to be allowed to make some mistakes.

Although preseason reps are nice to have for guys to go out and be allowed to take reps with no real consequence in terms of regular season ramifications, it’s not like playing a handful of preseason drives is really going to ramp up your offense’s chemistry more than just an expectation that there is no dress rehearsal — week one is the premier.
