What do Denver Broncos running backs Phillip Lindsay and Melvin Gordon’s Madden 21 ratings look like?

There is expected to be a very good backfield in Denver in 2020. The Denver Broncos will bring back Phillip Lindsay and have former Charger Melvin Gordon to go along with him. That duo is going to be fun to watch, as well as play with in the upcoming Madden 21 video game.

Lindsay and Gordon each have a great starting rating for the 2020 NFL season. Lindsay was tagged with an overall rating of 85, while Gordon is right behind him at 84.

As mentioned in previous Madden 21 reaveal articles, I have mentioned that awareness is the biggest factor in a rising overall rating. Lindsay’s awareness rating is 84, while Gordon’s is 82. I think that it partially has something to do with the fact that Lindsay has been on the team an extra two years, while Gordon is new. Gordon also held out for a number of weeks in 2019.

We knew that Lindsay was fast shifty. Now the results are in on his speed. Madden 21 has given Lindsay a speed rating of 93. In comparison, Gordon was given a speed rating of 91. Fellow running back Khalfani Muhammad was also given a 93 speed rating.

Gordon gets the edge when it comes to strength, and by a large margin. As a guy who is 25 pounds heavier and five inches taller, Gordon is a lot stronger than Lindsay. Gordon was given a strength rating of 74, with Lindsay sitting at 64.

For the carrying rating, Lindsay also has the upper hand at 90 overall with Gordon at 87. Gordon has had a history of fumbling during his career. He has 14 fumbles in his four-year career, including four fumbles in 2019. It is definitely something that he needs to work on.

Both running backs, according to Madden, see the field about the same. Lindsay has a slight edge in ball carrier vision at 88, with Gordon at 87. It’s going to be fun to see how well both players are able to see the field in their specific roles under Pat Shurmur’s offense.

Catching the football is going to be a part of Shurmur’s offense and a factor in that will be how well the players run routes. Gordon is the better route runner.

For short route running, Gordon’s rating is 64 while Lindsay’s is much lower at 58. On medium routes, Gordon is rated 57 while Lindsay is 51. Lastly, for deep routes, Gordon is at a very low rating of 49 while Lindsay is sadly at 43.

The running back position will be heavilty utilized for the Broncos this upcoming season and both of the team’s top backs figure to each have a big role.
