Trey Marshall

2020 salary: $750,000

The Broncos spend a lot of money on their top two safeties, Simmons and Kareem Jackson, and that forces them to be a little cheaper with the backups. Trey Marshall is quietly becoming a solid backup and a player that should see the field fairly often.

In addition to being one of the team’s best special teams guys, Marshall filled in nicely for the team when Jackson was suspended toward the end of last season.

Like Johnson, Marshall was also undrafted by the Broncos after starring at Florida State in college.

Marshall did not make the squad as a rookie but was added to the team’s practice roster. Late in the season, he was promoted to the main roster after the Arizona Cardinals made a pitch to poach him off Denver’s practice squad.

Last season, he made the 53-man roster outright and showed the organization that he might be a decent fallback option if either Simmons or Jackson proves to be unaffordable down the road.

That makes this a key year for Marshall who will be looking to maximize his potential salary with each snap he gets this coming season.

For his career, Marshall has 25 tackles and a forced fumble.
