Worst quarterbacks in Denver Broncos history
By Tylor Walden
Steve Tensi (1967-70)
Shortly after Mickey Slaughter, the Denver Broncos made a trade with the then San Diego Chargers, trading their first-round picks in 1968 and 1969 for the quarterback. It turned out to be a very bad investment for the Broncos.
San Diego would end up with the fourth overall selection in 1968 and the ninth overall selection in 1969. What did the Broncos end up with? A quarterback who was very injury prone and inconsistent. In fact, the final three years of his time with the Broncos resulted in several, including one serious, injuries and not many wins.
Tensi would be the final starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos before the NFL-AFL merger. He would only start two games after the merger before calling it a career. His numbers were slightly better than Mickey Slaughter, but the injuries and his inconsistent play put him at this spot on the list.
