Divisional Playoff Round: 2013 vs. San Diego Chargers
Although it’s hard to pick between this game and the revenge game against the Steelers in the 2015 postseason, I chose this game against the Chargers because of the fact that Denver was bleeding all over its roster at this point in terms of injuries.
Despite the rash of injuries, especially defensively, this team put together an impressive defensive performance against the Chargers, who had split the regular-season meeting with Denver that year despite the Broncos’ legendary 2013 offensive output.
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie had three pass breakups while Shaun Phillips had a pair of sacks against his former team and Malik Jackson and Jeremy Mincey had sacks for the Denver defense, holding the Chargers to just 13 first downs the entire game for the right to host New England in the 2013 AFC Championship game.
This motley crew of defenders in Denver put on a performance for the ages when the Broncos needed them the most, and that momentum carried into the next game against New England, another dominant defensive performance for the Broncos in the 2013 playoffs.
