No. 4: Los Angeles/San Diego Chargers

All-time series: Broncos lead 68-52-1

Of the teams in the AFC West, it seems like the Chargers are easily the one that Broncos fans hate the least. Of course, Philip Rivers taunting ex-Bronco quarterback Jay Cutler many years ago certainly drew the ire of Broncos fans and made the old Chargers quarterback one of the most disliked players the Broncos have ever gone against.

This is a rivalry that dates back to the old AFL. These two teams started playing against each other back in 1960. Unfortunately for the Chargers, that’s also when they stopped winning championships. The team’s one and only title came all the way back in 1963.

In recent years, the Chargers have moved from San Diego to Los Angeles and since that time, the Broncos have taken four of the six meetings.

These teams will always play each other twice a year, at least as long as they’re part of the same division. But for whatever reason, the Chargers do seem like the least hated divisional opponent.

With Rivers gone, the Chargers will look to rekindle the rivalry with a new quarterback, first-round pick Justin Herbert. It’s not known what kind of level of trash talk Herbert brings to the field, but if he taunts Drew Lock the way Rivers did Cutler, the rivalry will intensify.
