Marcell Dareus, DL

The Broncos at this point have a pretty deep defensive front, but you can never have too many options in the pass rush department.

At this stage of the offseason, Marcell Dareus would be a fascinating flyer.

Dareus was once an All-Pro defensive lineman whose career has sputtered substantially since he signed a massive contract. He hasn’t been able to stay on the field consistently which has affected him, but there’s no doubt he is a talented playmaker up front when healthy.

Were the first four seasons of Dareus’ NFL career simply a mirage? Could he be effective in the right system with the right coaching?

The latter question makes it worth signing him to the veteran minimum and seeing what happens in camp. If he can stand out, it might be worth sacrificing a roster spot elsewhere and keeping an extra defensive lineman going into the 2020 season.
