5. Signing Peyton Manning in 2012

Perhaps the greatest free agent signing in the history of the NFL, Broncos fans were given the best gift they could have possibly received when Peyton Manning decided to join the orange and blue.

It was a bid against several teams, including the team located where Manning went to college: the Tennessee Titans.

Washington was also interested — and he was interested in them, too.

But Manning chose Denver and was the heart and soul of the team. He helped the team to two Super Bowl appearances, winning one. The 2013 season was so much fun: Manning tore offenses to shreds to the tune of an NFL-record 55 touchdown passes.

He spread the ball around to 11 different targets that year, including Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker, who both went over 1,000 yards.

Broncos Country is just so thankful that Manning chose to join Denver, rather than any of the other interested teams.
