Some Denver Broncos players make NFL.com’s top-value team based off of the 2020 salary cap.

Anthony Holzman-Escareno of NFL.com has come up with a list of players around the NFL who, under their current contract, would fit on one team. There are a number of Denver Broncos players on this list.

First, we have to mention a few things. As mentioned in the article, here are the rules of the roster (directly from NFL.com):

  • Salary cap: $198,200,000
  • 53-man roster
  • Roster spots for players on rookie contracts are capped at 24 (with no more than four players drafted from each round for Rounds 1-3 and 12 total from Rounds 4-7), with some exceptions: I was allowed to “trade down” for a player (i.e. use a second-round slot on a third-round player). Plus, this limit does not apply to undrafted rookie contracts, and players on fifth-year options also do not count toward the rookie contract limit.
  • He was allowed to select one player who received the franchise or transition tag in 2020. If I didn’t select such a player, I could use a spot to keep one more non-first-round pick on a rookie contract.
  • He was allowed to sign one free agent to a minimum salary contract using the veteran salary benefit.

There are some very talented players on the Broncos roster. They are bound to earn a bigger contract at some point in the near future. But as of right now, they are on cheap deals.

What this list proves

When it comes down to it, this proves a number of things. First, it’s great that the Broncos are able to have such talented players on cheap contracts. The team has really made a point of building a team full of youth and character.

The problem, however, is that these players are going to want to get paid at some point. They will get that money they deserve. The Broncos are not going to be able to pay all of them, so they will just have to choose to keep the best players they can while painfully having to let others walk.

But it is so cool that, at this time, the Broncos have a number of productive players who are not breaking the bank. With their undrafted free agency success, as well as free agent signings throughout the years, they could still continue to build a solid team for the future.

Here are the Broncos players on the list, as well as an additional one from me.
