ESPN suggested the Denver Broncos make a trade for Packers CB Josh Jackson.

Approaching the month of July, the Denver Broncos are not exempt from roster tinkering and one particular position that might require some attention is the cornerback position.

We’ve taken a look at some players the Broncos could attempt to trade before the start of the season, but what about players who could be acquired via trade?

ESPN’s Field Yates put together a list of some trades NFL teams could/should make, and one of the moves he suggested was for the Denver Broncos to send 2018 third-round pick Isaac Yiadom to the Green Bay Packers for 2018 second-round pick Josh Jackson.

Yiadom was recently on the list of potential trade candidates we made for the Broncos, among a number of other players.

Jackson seemed to fall out of favor with the Green Bay coaching staff in 2019, seeing his defensive snaps drop from 68 percent (over 700 snaps) to just 10 percent.

It was a stunning drop in usage for Jackson, who was once a consensus All-American for the Iowa Hawkeyes program with a whopping eight interceptions and 18 pass breakups in the 2017 season.

Jackson’s NFL career has not progressed the way he or the Packers had hoped, though he did have 10 pass breakups in his rookie season.

Similarly, things have not gone great for Yiadom with the Denver Broncos.

Although he seemingly fell out of favor last season and found his way back into the starting lineup, Yiadom has fallen victim to a lot of big plays in the passing game in his time in Denver, so much so that the good things he’s managed to put on tape have been diminished significantly.

Making a trade now would allow both the Broncos and Packers to get players with upside and two years remaining on their rookie contracts.

Because of the Broncos’ apparent favor for the Iowa program, perhaps Jackson would be a better scheme fit for Vic Fangio anyway. He was initially drafted when the Broncos had Vance Joseph and Joe Woods running the defense, where the preferred coverage was press-man.

Under Fangio and Ed Donatell, the Broncos play a lot more zone.

A trade of Yiadom for Jackson is a smart idea by Field Yates and a fun possibility for the Broncos.
