2. Albert Okwuegbunam, TE, Missouri

Even during the 2020 NFL Draft, this selection was met with skepticism by Broncos fans.

In the third round, I suggested the Broncos should take a shot on Okwuegbunam and many fans disagreed with that idea.

At the top of the fourth round after the Broncos had already had five picks, I suggested it again and even went so far as to say he would be my top target in that round if the Broncos could get him.

The Broncos apparently agreed.

The addition of Okwuegbunam gives the Broncos a pair of unicorns at the tight end position between he and 2019 first-round pick Noah Fant. Imagine having to cover two tight ends who run 4.50 or better with their length, catch radius, and overall explosiveness.

The Broncos have been starved for weapons for so long, adding a guy like Okwuegbunam in the fourth round of the 2020 draft felt more like a necessity than a luxury, though some fans perceived it more as the latter.

In some ways, Okwuegbunam has more of an instantly translatable skill set than Noah Fant had coming out of Iowa. The things Fant seemed to struggle with at Iowa are the things Okwuegbunam excelled at while at Missouri, namely making contested catches.

Okwuegbunam’s history with Drew Lock, athleticism, catch radius, and ability to make difficult catches could help him see the field as the Broncos TE2 before long.
