Garett Bolles needs stellar 2020 season to stay
By Tylor Walden
If Garett Bolles does not succeed in 2020, he could be at risk of flaming out in Denver.
The year 2020 has not been a kind year to the world. For Garett Bolles, it could be his final season to show the Denver Broncos he is not a first-round draft bust. The odds are stacked against him, but if there is any indication that he can turn it around, just go back and watch when he was protecting Drew Lock.
However, those five games were not enough to give him an extra year as the Broncos decided to not exercise his fifth-year option. If he plans to stay in the Mile High City, he will need to play like an elite tackle. There is one person out there that does not believe his season will be successful.
Chris Roling, over at Bleacher Report, provided his seven young NFL stars who could be in danger of flaming out. Garett Bolles was one of the seven players that made this list, whether they breakout or flameout. The players here are notability those as early in their third year who are currently at a point where success is going to be huge.
Bolles will be on John Elway’s microscope as he mentioned to Cecil Lammey that “anytime they [officials] say 72, it brings down the whole stadium.” There is no doubt true beyond anything.
Bolles is projected to flameout, which means change could come.
If Garett Bolles does not succeed during this season, Denver will be looking for his replacement in 2021. That will come either from the draft or in free agency. If the team decides to move on from Bolles, he would be considered a bust for the Denver Broncos.
Perhaps his success with Lock in at quarterback might help him bounce back. However, it comes down to how he can perform under Mike Munchak in year two. If we see the same Bolles from the final five games, I’ll be optimistic. Otherwise. it might be back to the drawing board for the left tackle position in 2021.
