Denver Broncos: La Canfora predicts Von Miller will bounce back
Jason La Canfora of CBS thinks that Denver Broncos LB Von Miller will have a bounce-back season in 2020.
Von Miller had just eight sacks for the Denver Broncos in 2019. While that’s a respectable number, it’s not quite to the level that he can perform at.
Some people do not believe he will have a down year two seasons in a row, including CBS’ Jason La Canfora.
La Canfora lists Miller as one of his players who will have a bounce-back season in 2020.
La Canfora’s explanation:
"This guy did not have a bad season by any stretch of the imagination. He can still bring it. But it was by no means his most productive season from a sack and pressure standpoint and there seemed to be a feeling-out process with him and then new coach Vic Fangio. But there is too much talent on this unit, and Bradley Chubb is a beast on the other side and Fangio’s units have excelled at attacking the QB for decades. I wouldn’t be shocked at all if Miller is flirting with the sack title at the end of 2020."
It makes sense that Miller would have a bounce-back season. He did not have Bradley Chubb for most of the 2019 season, as the 2018 fifth-overall pick tore his ACL. But Miller will have that special player on the field with him at the same time, and it’s going to be very dominant. Chubb is doing really well in his recovery from the injury.
Some people believe that Miller has lost a step, but the reality is that the Broncos just struggled all around, and the absence of Chubb did not help. It is also worth noting that the Broncos brought in Vic Fangio, who brought his own defensive scheme with him to Denver.
Miller may not have had his typical statistical season but sometimes it’s the things that are not recorded in the stat sheet that make big differences, such as filling gaps, forcing a receiver or running back out of position, etc.
It should be a really fun season for the Broncos who have some new pieces on both sides of the ball, and their top pass rusher returning to the field in 2020.
