Will the NFL decide to reduce the preseason this year? The idea is being considered.

While there may be many football fans who finally say “thank goodness” if news of a shortened preseason comes to fruition, there are many fringe players out there who would begin to fret.

The NFL and its players association are discussing the idea of reducing the preseason, possibly from four games down to just two. While this may take a couple of games off the schedule that many fans deem meaningless, these games are far from meaningless to those players down toward the bottom of the depth chart.

Recently, I looked at players who would benefit the most from a shortened preseason on the roster of the Denver Broncos. Now, we will discuss those who would be hurt the most.

A shortened preseason would obviously hurt a slew of players on a 90-man roster. The ramifications would be far-reaching. But the players who will appear on this list are players that many feel have a decent chance to make the team this year but might need those two extra preseason games to solidify a spot.

There is no doubt that players make the team through great preseason performances and some, like Terrell Davis, go on to be stars. It would be a shame for some of these guys to get that possibility taken away, but that could easily be the case.

The following list of players is likely hoping the league decides not to reduce the preseason.
