Who makes it?

So, who ultimately is going to make the Broncos’ roster at inside linebacker?

How many roster spots will be devoted to this position group?

As I stated in the opening, I don’t think there’s any question about Todd Davis or Alexander Johnson making the team at this point.

Those are your two starting inside linebackers.

After those two, I think the Broncos are going to keep Strnad around unless he gets hurt and has to go on injured reserve. It will be up to them whose spot he takes between Josey Jewell or Joe Jones.

If the team decides to keep five inside linebackers, I think it could wind up being:

  • Todd Davis
  • Alexander Johnson
  • Josey Jewell
  • Justin Strnad
  • Josh Watson

Unfortunately leaving Joe Jones as an odd man out. Jones has made tremendous contributions to the Broncos on and off the field, but if he’s not getting on the field defensively, the Broncos might have to look into ways they can potentially replace his special teams prowess from within, starting with guys like Jewell, Strnad, and Watson who are proficient on special teams.

Next. Who has the best WR trio in the NFL?. dark

I think the trio of Jewell, Strnad, and Watson gives you the best opportunity to look to the future at inside linebacker if Todd Davis leaves in free agency in 2021 with any one of those guys capable of earning a starting role and every one of them benefitting from the competition.
