Denver Broncos: 5 UDFAs with the best chance to make the roster
A pair of wide receivers
Kendall Hinton, Wake Forest
One of the two wide receivers the Broncos signed as an undrafted free agent was Wake Forest’s Kendall Hinton.
Like the two receivers the Broncos drafted back-to-back to open the 2020 NFL Draft, Hinton excelled last season primarily working out of the slot.
Hinton opened up his career at Wake Forest as a dual-threat from the quarterback position but made the transition to receiver last season, and he was. tremendous. With Jamie Newman throwing passes, Hinton caught 75 passes for 1,010 yards and four touchdowns.
The Broncos have a loaded depth chart at receiver, but Hinton’s versatility as an offensive weapon and ability to play quarterback in an emergency situation could factor into his favor.
Zimari Manning, Tarleton State
It’s always fun when you have guys who are coming in from small schools with really dominant tape, and Zimari Manning is a fun study.
At 6-foot-1, 200 pounds, Manning imposed his will on defensive backs at Tarleton State.
He has a good feel for running routes on the outside of the formation and really nice play speed.
Check out our good pal Cody Roark’s film breakdown of one of his games.
Although he’s not quite as thick, Manning’s play style sort of reminds me of Anquan Boldin, who could catch everything thrown his way and then embarrass you with physicality after the catch.
Before he dominated at Division II Tarleton State, he was dominant at Golden West Community College for a couple of seasons.
He had one season at Golden West with 23 receiving touchdowns and another at Tarleton State with 22 touchdowns.
If signing bonuses are an indicator, Manning was given the third-highest signing bonus ($12,500) of any of their undrafted rookies.
